Full Circle Moment.

Hello friends, this post if more of a mind dump than sharing any advice, but my first training session was seriously with my younger self. She reminds me so much of my middle school self and this is what I wanted to do since earning my certification as a personal trainer.

This girl is in middle school, and mom is pushing her to workout and lose weight while build muscle. She doesn't like many workouts and is pretty quiet and not so confident. Her trainer handed her off to me because we have a similar story and he just thought I would be able to work better with her than he was. Right away, she opened up a little bit and shared what exercises she doesn't like and why. I had her try some new workouts to help her core strength and start lifting weights. She asked what my favorite thing about working at the gym was, and I told her I was brand new to personal training, but I had a bad experience when I was younger and want to help someone with theirs.
She asked about my experience, and I shared how my parents would drop me off at the gym when I didn't want to go. My trainer was more hard and I did not take that very well. I felt worse about myself in the gym and that was the driving force why I wanted to train children and women mainly. There are so many misconceptions about fitness, nutrition and wellness, it drives me crazy. She nodded and said she's in a similar situation, and doesn't like working out that much. I reassured her once she finds a workout she loves, she will actually want to do it!
After our training session, her mom approached me and said her daughter wants to stay training with me and I absolutely loved it. I am so happy I can start changing someone's view on fitness so young because I wished someone did that for me.
Xx Rachel
